An introduction to our staff team

            My name is Jean.

I opened Honey Bears with my 3 daughters 25 years ago. My daughters have worked with me to run a successful nursery.

I have a BTEC national diploma in childcare and a D32/33 assesors course in childcare , along with being a deliverer of the incredible years parenting course. Also I hold a DSL in safeguarding and have obtained manyother courses to enhance my knowledge in Early years.

As a famioly we wanted to create an environment that was as near to a "home from home" for the children in our care. Our ethos was to create a nursery where all children are included, regardless of race, religion and disability. Every child should be given the opportunity to learn and progress.

In 2015 we opened an extra provision which is managed by my granddaughter and is progressing well. Her forte is special needs and she caters for children with varied special education needs.

we have always established good parent relationships which we feel os important to our business. We welcome and encourage participation and feedback from parents so we can always improve our setting. I feel we have been able to create an enviroment for our staff to achieve and work as a strong team. We will continue to provide and achieve a happy, safe and achieving enviornment for all children in our care.

        My Name is Justine.

I have been a partner of Honey Bears Nursery and Out of School Club for 25 years.

In this time it has been wonderful to see how many children have grown up through our nursery and out of school clubs, and it is lovely to see how these children are now, as adults and all they have achieved in their education since leaving Honey Bears and their ongoing journey through life.

Due to the nursery running for so long we now have children attending here of families that started here with us in 1991 and it is marvellous to see the next generations coming through.

In our family- My boys (Oliver aged 20 and Matthew aged 16) and Nieces have all grown up through attending Honey Bears and now we have my Great Niece Aurbrie attending- so the next generation in our family is coming through also.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of running Honey Bears and long may it continue!!!!

        Hi, my name is Debra

I am one of the founding partners of Honey Bears.

I qualified as a Nursery Nurse back in 1983 and have worked as a Nanny and worked in schools as a Nursery Assisstant, before joining social services day nurseries as a Nursery Officer in 1986. I went back to college in 1989 to further my career in social workand gain my in-service certificate in Social Care. I had my heart set on progressing into management at social services when I fell pregnant in 1990. At that time social services did not provide childcare for its workers and a nursery across the road from my house became avaliable so I re-mortgaged my house, took my business plan to the bank and with a bit of extra help from Jean started our business journey.

Little did I know when we set up this nursery business in 1991, that we would still be providing quality daycare 25years later.

My ethos has been unchanged in all those years, I still believe all working parents should have access to quality and affordable childcare and children should be happy, be safe and have fun whilst in our care.

I have raised three children myself so know all the joys and agonising us working parents go through to balance home and work life.

All my children attended Honey Bears and all have grown into lovely, caring human beings who have all achieved a university education.

My interests outside work include listening and watching live music from classical to hip hop.

I enjoygoing to concerts, watching movies and taking long walks with my dog and travelling to other countries.

  Hello, my name is Denise.

I am officer in charge and have worked at the setting for over 20 years.

I gained my NNEB qualification in 1986 after completing my training at The College of Food in Birmingham.

I started my career as a Nanny looking after two children over a 5 year period. I then began woking as an Officer in Charge in a a private day nursery also within the Erdington area. Whilst at this setting I became pregnant with my son. After returning to work, and with my son at another setting, I quickly realised how difficult it was to juggle work and home life. Just after his second birthday a position became avaliable at Honey Bears.

I am also trained SENCO (special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator) working alongside parents/ carers and outside agencies to help children with additional needs meet their full potential. I am also one of the settings DSL's (Designated Senior Leader) regarding Safe Guarding and childre protection. I also have my food saftey certificate and paediatric 1st aid certificate.

Throughout my time at Honey Bears I have attended many other courses to enable me to carry out my job and also to help the other staff and students who work alongside me. I carry out Staff training within the setting sharing my knowlege and helping them move on with their careers.

Over the last 3 years I have also been the lead practioner in a quality improvement programme- EEL and BEEL. This is enables us to look at our policies and practices and make improvements. The children, parents/carers, staff and managers are all involved in the programme.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and friends, reading, going to the cinema, go cycling or walking and visiting new and exciting places.
